· p: Working pressure of the medium
· T: Working temperature of the medium
The correlation law formed by the combination of the above two parameters is what we commonly call the p~T relationship.
What exactly does p~T mean? As we know, every sealing material has a maximum allowable operating temperature limit, TMax. Likewise, each gasket features a maximum allowable operating pressure limit, denoted as pMax.

In practice, TMax(maximum working temperature) and pMax(maximum working pressure) cannot occur simultaneously. The temperature and pressure parameters listed in product brochures for various gaskets are obtained under specified test prerequisites.
When manufacturers test the maximum temperature resistance of gaskets, the medium pressure is set at standard atmospheric pressure. When testing pressure resistance, tests are performed under ambient temperature.
During on site working condition matching, customers frequently inquire about the applicable temperature pressure range of gaskets or select suitable sealing products based on given operating conditions. Under such circumstances, the gasket p×T value and p~T diagram shall be adopted for comprehensive evaluation to verify whether the gasket can satisfy on site service requirements.
