Leading High-End: Little Giant Enterprises Persist in Innovation

"Hualong One" is China's third-generation nuclear power technology with full independent intellectual property rights, hailed as a "national business card." It is not only one of the nuclear power models with the largest number of under-construction and operational units worldwide but also plays a key role as the "chain leader" of the industrial chain.

The core sealing ring of "Hualong One" may seem simple, but it is a crucial device to prevent nuclear power plant leaks. The sealing technology requires materials to maintain stable performance under extreme temperature, pressure, and radiation conditions. In the past, Chinese nuclear power plants were completely dependent on imports for such sealing rings, with the cost of a single set of seals as high as several million yuan and a long delivery cycle. Suzhou Baohua Sealing Technology Co., Ltd., an enterprise known as a "Specialized, Refined, Characteristic, and Innovative Little Giant," finally broke the foreign monopoly and overcame the sealing technology bottleneck through nine years of persistent innovation and R&D investment of tens of millions of yuan.

"Hualong One" has brought us a particularly strong awareness of this. In the process, "Hualong One" has played an important leading role. Today, the nuclear reactor sealing rings for "Hualong One" have achieved 100% localization. With the deepening of R&D, Suzhou Baohua has expanded into more than a dozen emerging fields such as petrochemicals and aerospace.

Han Jiaxing, R&D Center Manager: For the data collection of tests on new nuclear power reactor types, including long-term verification, we need to conduct 500 tests. Currently, the test data is very satisfactory, with the performance indicators far exceeding the requirements. The test will be successfully completed in another five days.

Standing at the new starting point of the "15th Five-Year Plan," with the start of new projects such as the world's first integrated utilization project of "Hualong One" and high-temperature gas-cooled reactors, as well as the R&D of subsequent models like "Hualong One 2.0," the industrial chain will continue to upgrade. Through sustained innovation, Suzhou Baohua is moving from "point" breakthroughs at the technical level to "surface" leadership in defining industry standards and optimizing the system ecology, laying the most solid micro-foundation for China's transformation from a "manufacturing power" to a "manufacturing powerhouse."
